Both buses and trams cover the city, allowing you to travel to your chosen destination in Linz with little outlay. Both day tickets and four-stop tickets offer the best value, which can only be bought from the automated ticket machines at most stops.

Many visitors to Linz choose to travel onboard an official sightseeing bus, although by using tram transport with a simple day ticket, you will be able to take in the majority of the main sights. Alternatively, why not consider a relaxing cruise along the River Danube, or renting a bicycle at the Lilo train station, on the city's outskirts?

Also often referred to as the Blue Danube Airport, Linz Airport is located just outside of the city and connected by regular bus transport, with a journey time of approximately 20 minutes. Ryanair in one of the main airlines operating here, travelling to European destinations such as Barcelona and London Stansted. Other notable airlines flying to and from Linz Airport include Air Cairo, Austrian Airlines, Lufthansa and also TUIfly.

Linz is conveniently situated part-way between both Vienna and Salzburg, being close to a number of main roads, such as the A1 Autobahn (motorway). The A1 also connects Munich, while to the south, the Muehlviertel A7 Autobahn provides travel to a number of destinations around Austria's southerly states of Carinthia and Styria, such as Klagenfurt and Graz respectively. Car rental is the best mode of transport if you intend to travel outside of Linz and properly explore South Austria.
